  History of Lake Electronics

Lake Electronics was started in October, 1952 by Vince Triolo and Tom Walsh, with additional investment by Fred Lakewitz of the Lake Service Company of Boston, and several other benefactors.

In 1955 Vince Triolo and Tony Mirabile, Vince's brother-in-law who joined Lake in 1954, bought-out the partners and Lake was transformed into a more family-oriented operation.  Just about every member of both the Triolo and Mirabile families has worked at Lake at one time or another through the years.

Lake's original building was located at 1526 Central Avenue in Colonie (now home to Annette's Bridal Shop).  In 1955, we built our current facility at 1650 Central.  Lake has the distinction of being the oldest operating business in the Village of Colonie, NY.

The Lake family has lived through two serious tragedies over the history of the business.  In 1973, Vince Triolo, our founder and president at the time, suffered a fatal heart attack at the young age of 50.  Tony Mirabile served as president from 1973 until his retirement in 1994, when Mike Triolo, Vince's son, took over as President.  In 1998, Mike's life was taken at the young age of 49 as the result of a tragic accident.  Both men are sorely missed and will never be forgotten.

Since that time, Andy Mirabile, Tony's son, who has been with Lake since 1971, has served as President.  Sharon Triolo, Mike's wife, with Lake since 1986, is Vice-President and Treasurer.  Don Simpson, with Lake since 1981, is General Manager.  Maria Triolo Sciotti, Mike and Sharon's daughter, with Lake since 1992, is the Parts and Office Manager.  This team along wth many other dedicated and talented employees have contributed to Lake's long-standing success.

The business has changed dramatically over the years as new electronic items have come and gone.  Lake was also Factory Authorized for all of the largest manufacturers of small appliances, but servicing small appliances became no longer practical, as many of the items became throw-aways when they stopped working.

Keeping up with the products that are serviceable has kept Lake in business.  Lake now offers in-home service for large-screen TVs, and has expanded their  building three times over the years, including a drive-in garage for installation of remote car starters.

From the original size of five employees to its current size, Lake Electronics has excelled at customer service, expert quality, and good value.  Many, many customers agree.
